Mark Brafield

Solicitor

Mark is an experienced litigator. He holds a first class degree from Trinity College Oxford, where he was a double scholar.

Mark Brafield Mark qualified in 1989 having trained at the London firm Titmuss Sainer & Webb (now Decherts). On qualifying he moved to Eversheds. He practiced commercial litigation in the City, family law for 8 years in the East End of London, and was, for 5 years, head of litigation at another leading Guildford firm.

Mark has been a Deputy District Judge since 2000, dealing with all aspects of County Court jurisdiction.

His private practice concentrates on property litigation and family law, and the increasing overlap between the two areas.

He has particular expertise in landlord and tenant law (both commercial and residential) and is a leading local practitioner in the specialised field of leasehold extensions and freehold purchases.

In family law, he specialises in ancillary relief claims and co – habitee disputes. He regularly handles applications under The Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.

Mark is a Director of Relate and a member of both Resolution and the Law Society Family Law Panel.

Married with a young son, Mark is an accomplished musician being a Fellow of Trinity College London and of the Royal College of Organists.
